Barbados Culture Framed in Wood

A Symbol of Self-Determination. In a world where landlessness was designed as a type of control, the belongings home overturned the system. It offered autonomy without authorization. It made the poorest people in Barbados into house owners-- on their own terms, in structures developed with skill, pride, and communal labour.
When a household saved sufficient money to buy land, your house would travel with them-- lifted, balanced, and brought like a treasure. Neighbours showed up with ropes, lever boards, and laughter. Children ran next to the procession. Elders blessed the path with a quiet nod.
" This is what you should comprehend," he said. "We didn't wait on nobody to hand us identity. We construct it board by board."
And because simple truth lies the depth of the Barbadian spirit.

A Project of- Rogues in Paradise.
